  • This is horse poop. If your tomatoes come out of the fridge bland, then they went in bland.

  • Bland tomatoes are better than moldy tomatoes

  • LPT: don’t buy tomatoes from the supermarket because they will come pre-ultra-bland.

Anyone who’s had a tomato from a garden will know. Supermarket tomatoes aren’t good for much other than filler in stuff like salsa.

  • Lowering the temperature of foods reduces our ability to taste their sweetness, so many foods will taste more bland when refrigerated. Source: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4542652/

  • LPT: However the grocery stores the produce (room temp or refrigerated), is how you should store it.

  • The real LPT here is that you should store all of your produce the way it is displayed at the store. Apples, onions, avocados, tomatoes, citrus… it all goes on the counter. Peppers, celery, fresh herbs, ginger, cabbages… they go in the fridge. One would figure the folks who have the most to lose from produce storage would have the answers.

  • I’m a kinky person and I’m into bland tomatoes, thanks for the tip. 😉

  • You’re starting with so much more. You guys have flavour, we only have flavor. A whole letter less of taste.
