LPT: Before screwing in a lightbulb, rub a little grease off your nose/forehead onto the metal base of the bulb....

Of course, starting with a clean bulb and socket doesn’t hurt to prevent sticking. This is especially true for CFL bulbs that last for a decade or longer.

For replacing multiple bulbs, I’ve heard electricians recommend a *very* light touch of petroleum jelly.

And a bonus TIL: in the USA the socket/screw is called an [Edison Screw](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Edison_screw)!

  • I use the same technique, using the oil at the base of the outside of my nostril, to lubricate the tips of my spinning rod sections before joining them together to assemble the rod for fishing. It’s a trick I learned from my uncle more than 60 years ago.

  • You don’t have to screw your bulbs in that tight you know…

  • I seriously doubt that the paltry amount of oil you can get from your nose/forehead is going to make a damn bit of difference ten years from now when the light bulb needs to be replaced.
