  • The thing is, you can work as hard as you want, but if you’re pushing a door that needs to be pulled, you’re not going to get anywhere.

    THAT is the hardest part!

  • This Cards Against Humanity card isn’t very funny.

  • looks like whoever wanted to inspire r/getmotivated with a tired old aphorism put in the least possible amount of work for it. Great Job!

  • I am working hard for it and still I am not getting what I want

  • I don’t know what I want.

  • What if I want to buy a Lamborghini, a yacht, and an apartment in downton NYC but I’m a piss poor kid in some third world country who barely have access to education and healthcare and like most of the population, most likely will never have what the 1% have for the rest of his life?

  • My mum has been working for 45 years and has never made it, we still struggle (I work hard and struggle also)

There are plenty of people that grind every day and still don’t have close to enough.

  • Sometimes there are things in life that is out of your control. It is not that **simple**.

  • This is the worst kind of brainless catch-all motivational statement. Hard work isn’t enough. You *need* to be lucky.

  • Tell that to the people starving in 3rd world countries. I’m sure they just don’t work hard enough right?

  • no

  • Well its not. Lot of factors are at work

  • That’s just so utterly bollocks it hurts. It’s not that simple at all! This kind of thinking leads to blaming those that haven’t succeeded for not having succeeded. After all if you genuinely believe this, how could you conceivably empathise with those less fortunate? They clearly didn’t even bother trying. This kind of message isn’t motivating, it’s harmful.

  • Also get lucky in multiple ways. Especially when it comes to connections. Or being born in the right family helps a lot too. Also be lucky enough to be healthy.

  • I’m depressed. I’ve been consistently depressed for over a year. I want to be not depressed. I have worked harder on getting better than on anything else in my entire life, and that’s really fucking hard. I’m still depressed. This is just a meaningless platitude that suggests that working hard enough will let you achieve anything. It won’t.

  • Tell that to [this guy](https://youtu.be/1ViQEsoxWfE)

  • This makes so much sense, I should have known brute forcing is the solution to everyone’s problems. Thanks man, really appreciate it.

  • In an idealistic world it’s that simple

  • Like healthcare. No wait…

  • This idea works for people at different levels. Each person no matter how disadvantaged has small goals that they can achieve. These achievements then build confidence and the ability to achieve larger goals. A big issue with disadvantaged people is the lack of confidence to go for what they want. I’ve seen this with friends, family members and peers. Little accomplishments are still accomplishments, and are the building blocks for success.

  • Just pull yourself up by your own bootstraps. Go on, it’s really easy and everyone else is doing it. Don’t worry if you don’t have any boot straps. Just pull yourself up by them! Let me guess OP, you just got your college diploma?

  • Tell that to slaves all over the world.

  • No, it’s not that simple.

  • Ooh I know what comes next!

Blame the victim! Throw him down the well! The poor are poor by choice!

Man I just love the rush of self-righteousness. /s

  • Bullshit

  • Some people just can’t make shit happen.

  • That’s not entirely true. Socially, if you work too hard at something, you will loose it.

  • Tell that to the disabled Americans who live in rural areas.

  • Another stupid post. If you have lost your legs in an accident I’m pretty sure you will want to have legs but no matter how hard you work you will never have them again. Great post for depressing a lot of people instead of motivating.

  • [removed]

  • *But that doesn’t mean you’ll get it. It’s that simple.

  • *Exits Reddit*

  • I want to grow wings and fly

  • I always wanted to start a bar where you play video games competitively and if you beat or set a high score you drink personally free for the rest of the night. The only way to play tho is to buy and finish a drink. The games range from classic coin farming cabinet arcade games to controller smashing console games. To monitor punching PC games. I was gonna call it BARcade

  • Work as hard as you want but there is also lucks and nobody is born equal. Some are born with a fucking silver spoon.

  • Take that shit to r/objectivism.

  • What an uplifting Cards Against Humanity card

  • I want vanessa hudgens. I guess stalking is an option.

  • Dear author of this bullshit truism: I was like you once. Sucker.

  • hate fortune cookie wisdom.

  • In what fucking fantasy world is this even remotely true

  • I have a buddy who is busting his ass working for a pyramid scheme, who posts stuff like this all the time. It’s a real shame, too, because he’s a decent guy.

  • That’s what she said.

  • Many things in life seem complicated. Most are not.

For me the key is to employ [focus](http://truthandstrength.com/focus-the-breakfast-of-champions/) and [discipline](http://truthandstrength.com/commit-once-a-primer-on-self-discipline/) everyday.

When it rewards you, don’t even think. Don’t blink. Just keep making it rain.

  • Go say this to slaves or abused children. The real world is different than on paper.

  • thanks. Now I can get healthcare.

  • No, it’s not always that simple. Who wrote this shit anyway…

  • What if what I actually want is the avocado toast

  • Yes but hard work or smart work

  • Or steal it!

  • What if you don’t want it? Or don’t want anything at all?

  • I wish I was in a job that I could work extra hours and make extra. My extra hours mean nothing in my job. I’ll get my new computer in a few years hopefully.

  • The toughest fucking thing is not life, it’s overcoming a weak mind that always pulls you down.

  • I am a slow worker but i need to work fast if i want to achieve what i want, but i cant, so its not that simple.

  • i want pizza

  • Op should practice what he preaches, this is a repost.

  • What if I can make other people work for it instead?

  • but ehat if we dont know what we want

  • Let me just x-post this to r/latestagecapitalism.

  • “Don’t beg for it, earn it and it will be granted to you.” -quote from space brothers

  • “What do you want, and what are you willing to do to get it?” That’s what my mom used to ask me anytime that I whined that I wanted or needed something. She was a bitch, but she kinda had a point. Nobody’s standing on the street corner handing out free whatever-it-is-you-want-or-need.

  • Or if you’re smart enough, make others work for you, and you both can have what you want.

  • Thanks Margaret Thatcher

  • ugh

  • This is great motivation if you already have a solid base to start from. Otherwise you’ll spend your whole life building that base so others can benefit from it

  • This mentions nothing of acquiring/achievement but at least you tried. Right?

  • Thank God I don’t want anything. I can rest now.

  • It really isn’t.

  • Man, so many people triggered at the suggestion of working for things.

  • I read at first if you wank it, work for it

  • Except healthcare , education and social standing. It’s my entitlement and I need it NOWWWWW

  • r/LateStageCapitalism is that way

  • This is bullshit. Plenty of people “work hard”. Not many “work smart”. There’s a big difference between working towards a goal and working to make ends meet.

  • this simply isn’t true.

  • Wow, lots of people getting offended here. While I think the overall statement is a little oversimplified, I’d say “work hard, don’t blame others, and learn to appreciate what you already have and you’ll get a hell of a lot farther than you would otherwise”. That’s not as catchy though. As far as monetary gain goes, being born in a capitalist society is a big plus. If not, you’ll want to find a way to move to a capitalist society at some point. At least in the US, if you graduate high school, don’t have a kid before marriage, and stay out of prison, you are almost statistically guaranteed to make it into the middle class.

  • I want it so imma go get iiiit

  • I don’t think this means hard work is the only thing you need and things will automatically work out, I think it means that hard work is absolutely necessary for achieving your goals. In that sense it’s like mostly right.
I’ve done well so far with zero effort because I have everything working for me, but had no prospects for the future. Now I’m busting my ass, barely any sleep, two jobs and second year back in uni, and although I feel like I’m dying most of the time and am mentally exhausted, but I no longer feel aimless and like a failure compared to my peers. I actually feel proud about the way I’m living my life.

This got long but my point is, don’t be afraid to work hard for yourself, even if things don’t work out, it’s miles better than the alternative.

  • I see a lot of ” yeah you can work hard but you need to be lucky”

    It’s all bullshit

Be great at your craft so you can’t be ignored. I wanted to be a video editor and made it happen in 2 years. Those who believe luck is a heavy factor are those who stay stuck in quicksand.

  • Do what you can
Do it the best that you can

  • Cool. I really want to, as the proletariat, seize the means of production. I shall do as such.

  • This just isn’t true. There are a ton of factors outside of working hard that are needed for success in anything.

  • I want to not work… so, am i screwed?

  • I want to levitate

  • Can confirm, this is a constant state of being lucky enough for the future.

  • I want to be smarter, but the more I try, the more I learn how dumb I am.

  • Footnote: It really really helps if you’re born into a wealthy family and are attractive.

  • Cant i just lie, cheat, and steal like the president did

  • Still doesnt guarantee I’ll get what I want.
And no, then it will have built character is not a good reason for me to have wasted my energy and time

  • Well you got 10k karma points without really working for it.

  • Been working for it going on 8 years now. Wondering when I’ll get it.

  • Wish It, Want It, Do It

  • Some times when i feel brave i wake up at 4:00 am brush my theeth and workout and then run to the moutain. But today i feel like i out did my self. Today was yep, leg day. Five reps for each exercise. I streched to 100 seconds once again for the exercises i did. I ran that damn moutain under the sun and i was tired. Never have i wanted a drink of water so badly. I came home finally after my ribs were crushing me. I needed a nice warm shower and the shower head was broken. When i took off my clothing my skin was burned and my foot was gushing out blood. My leg feels like its going to snap in half. Thank god i have two days to rest. Maybe i’ll think twice before going up the moutain on leg day. Also i was listening to cannibal corpse lol i feel accomplished in a brutal way. And is there any jobs out there for athelitic people? Btw im only 15 years old 🙂

  • Why does anyone up vote these posts

  • [Here you go, Reddit. Have fun.](http://imgur.com/gallery/CteTl)

  • So you’re telling me that I can resurrect Jesus and all I have to do is work for it 🙂

  • Now, see, it was never said you’ll get it.

  • Wish it, want it, get it
