  • This is what makes the Oscars so important and prestigious, this careful selection of the best minds to judge what art is worthy of the highest awards and who should be blessed with the icon of the golden man. It’s good to see that pool grow with a more diverse membership so we can continue to benefit from their extraordinary talents as movie judges.

  • Race and gender are no qualifications why is that so prominent in this article and not their individual achievements?

  • I wonder what exactly Chris Hemsworth achieved, apart from being muscular and handsome, to get into the academy. Same with Gal Gadot. Let’s be honest, she’s not really a great actress.

  • A bigger issue that people don’t seem to talk about: they need to rescind the voting privileges of the older, retired members and replace them with younger voters.

Having more non-white members is a great start, but the main reason you don’t see as many non-white acting nominees is because old people don’t care for movies like Straight Outta Compton or Beasts of No Nation.

  • Look it is a good step in the right direction, and at the very least should add some variety to the nominations

  • too little, too late
